Oh, writing that made me think of something really funny.

Maeve told me this: At Queens the PC club sold cheap $0.50 free-trade coffee. (Not to be confused with the fair-trade coffee those damn hippies drink!)
Alright, some thoughts about the trivial subject of Roll-up-the-Rim.

  • Isn't it kind of disgusting to hand to the cashier a saliva-covered piece of paper. It's *supposed* to go in your mouth. Everyone seems to roll the rim with their teeth. It's just really gross and germy.
  • Ben and I both noticed this. The first couple of days of roll-up-the-rim *everyone* seems to win. I think that there are a disportionate number of winning cups in the first batch, to get everyone hooked on winning.

I have NO COMMENT about Friday's escapades. It was a very fun night though.

Just a small anecdote (completely unrelated to Fri): The convenience store across the street has a very small selection of magazines. About half are actual pornography and the rest are pseudo-pornography (Maxim, Blender, Stuff) or car magazines. You absolutely can't get any mainstream women's magazines, not even Cosmo. Last night I noticed that front and centre in the display they had BUST magazine. Despite the "sexy" title, Bust is a pretty feminist magazine (extremely feminist compared to any mainstream women's mag). Frances McDormand was on the cover and this months issue explores women's sexuality as they age. The only Maxim-esque photospread was of wrestling grandmothers. I had to buy a copy.

I have to answer the following "essay" questions for my American work visa:

  1. What are some of the career goals you hope to achieve by completing an intership in the US?
  2. What specific skills do you hope to learn in the U.S. that you would not learn in your home country or another foreign country?
  3. Besides professional skills, what do you hope to gain from this intership?
  4. What benefits do you think your host company gains by hosting international trainess.
